DEVELOPMENT OF ECOTOURISM IN UKRAINE: POTENTIAL AND CHALLENGES

екотуризмThe aim of this article is to describe the potential and advantages of ecotourism development in Ukraine, as well as to analyze the problems that hinder the development of this type of tourism. It has been established that Ukraine has significant natural resources that can be used for ecotourism, which confirms the relevance of the research. The importance of ecotourism in promoting sustainable development, preserving biodiversity, and supporting local communities is emphasized. It is shown that to fully realize the potential of ecotourism in Ukraine, it is necessary to solve a number of problems, including the lack of infrastructure and facilities, inadequate marketing and promotion, as well as imperfect legislative framework and government regulation. A scientific model of ecotourism is presented, which includes elements such as natural objects, infrastructure, socio-economic context, ecological component, legal regulation, tourists, and local residents. When developing a scientific model of ecotourism in Ukraine, it is necessary to take into account the interests of all stakeholders mentioned. On the one hand, ecotourism can become an important source of income for local residents and regions as a whole. On the other hand, ecotourism can have a negative impact on natural resources if ecological principles and protection measures are not followed. Therefore, the development of a scientific model of ecotourism in Ukraine should provide for the determination of an optimal balance between tourism development and preservation of natural resources. To achieve this balance, various tools can be used, such as ecological certifications, bans on certain activities, restrictions on the number of tourists, and other measures. Today, several ecological projects and programs aimed at the development of ecotourism are already operating in Ukraine. Such initiatives should be supported and expanded, as this will contribute to the preservation of nature and the development of the tourism industry in the country.
