PRICE VOLATILITY IN THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR AND ITS ECONOMIC CONSEQUENCES FOR AGRICULTURAL PRODUCERS
Abstract
The article studies the price volatility of the agricultural sector of Ukraine and determines its economic consequences for agricultural producers in conditions of economic and military instability. It is substantiated that agricultural pricing is formed under the influence of a complex of interrelated factors, among which the leading role is played by the world price situation, forecasted volumes of gross collection, the state of export logistics, the level of transitional stocks, as well as tariff and non-tariff restrictions on foreign markets. Particular attention is paid to the impact of military actions on increasing price instability due to disruption of logistics chains, reduction of production potential and changes in state regulatory policy. The combination of these factors significantly complicates forecasting price dynamics and increases the level of economic risks for agricultural producers, limiting their investment opportunities and financial stability. Based on the analysis of the dynamics of the agricultural product price index and the inflation index, it was established that prices in the agricultural sector are characterized by a higher level of volatility compared to general economic inflationary processes, which causes increased financial risks for agricultural enterprises. It is determined that price instability complicates the processes of financial planning, income forecasting and investment strategy formation of agricultural producers, especially small and medium-sized ones. It is proved that reducing the negative impact of price fluctuations requires a comprehensive approach that combines the improvement of state regulation mechanisms of agricultural markets, the development of export and domestic infrastructure, as well as the introduction of price risk management tools. The results obtained can be used in the formation of state agricultural policy and in the practical activities of agricultural enterprises in order to increase their economic stability and competitiveness.
