ASSESSMENT OF THE TOURIST AND RECREATIONAL POTENTIAL OF THE RADEKHIV TERRITORIAL COMMUNITY
Abstract
The article focuses on evaluating the tourist and recreational potential of the Radekhiv territorial community, located in the Lviv region of Ukraine. The study aims to assess the key resources of the community, including natural, cultural, and infrastructural assets, to determine their potential for tourism development. This comprehensive assessment forms the foundation for sustainable tourism growth, which is vital for economic development, job creation, and local well-being. However, the study also highlights several infrastructural challenges that limit the community’s tourism potential. The outdated road network, insufficient accommodation facilities, and lack of proper signage and public services hinder the area’s appeal to tourists. Additionally, the lack of connectivity between Radekhiv and larger tourist hubs limits access and deters the flow of tourists. The study identifies several key barriers to effectively using the community’s tourism resources. A major limitation is the absence of a unified tourism development strategy, which hampers local authorities’ ability to coordinate efforts and attract investment. The lack of coordination between local government, businesses, and community members leads to fragmented efforts in tourism development. Moreover, inadequate marketing and promotional activities result in low visibility of the region in the competitive tourism market. To address these challenges, the article proposes an integrated methodology for assessing tourism potential, incorporating various indicators like infrastructure, sustainability, local involvement, and market demand. This methodology offers a holistic perspective on tourism potential and informs future decision-making. The article suggests practical recommendations to enhance tourism development in Radekhiv. These include improving infrastructure (particularly transportation), expanding accommodation options, investing in cultural and environmental tourism, and increasing local community involvement. Attracting private investment in tourism businesses is also emphasized to foster innovation and sustainability. In conclusion, the article stresses the importance of a coordinated, comprehensive approach to tourism planning that integrates natural, cultural, and infrastructural resources. With the right investments and strategies, Radekhiv has significant potential to become a sustainable tourist destination, boosting the local economy and improving residents’ quality of life.
