INCREASING THE COMPETITIVENESS OF THE DOMESTIC REGION BASED ON THE REALIZATION OF ITS POTENTIAL

Abstract

The article concludes that there are two main priority areas for research into the competitiveness of the domestic region – the need to achieve a high standard of living for its population and to increase the efficiency of the functioning of the economic mechanism. The competitiveness of the region will be considered in the economic space, the basis of which is the economic mechanism of the regional market with a certain regulatory role of the state and local authorities. The competitiveness of the region ensures a high standard of living for the population and the opportunity to realize the potentials available in the region – production, labor, innovation, resource. The need to distinguish between the competitiveness of the object and subjects in the regional economy is emphasized. The main subject of the region is considered to be the population. It is people who realize their economic interests and satisfy their needs. The main factors of the regional market on which the competitiveness of the region depends are determined, and the influence of these factors on individual components of the development of the domestic region is considered. Increasing competitiveness is a complex and gradual process, its implementation in most cases is a planned and economically calculated operation based on digital calculations of economic impact by various factors of modernity at the time of project implementation. Factors of influence are different and independent of each other or interconnected, their form and mechanism can change under the influence of the economic or social component of the development of the region. All processes in the latter at the time of implementation must be clearly formed and mutually coordinated with different levels of government of the domestic region. The formation of domestic regions as independent subjects of economic relations gives rise to many contradictions, the resolution of which becomes possible only through interregional competition. Those regions win in the competitive struggle, whose competitiveness is quantitatively and qualitatively different from others. In connection with which the problem of knowledge – both scientific and applied – is actualized; it is precisely such characteristics of regional competitiveness that contribute to this to the greatest extent.
